The Secret behind successful people
Great Athletes, musicians, actors, writers and business moguls alike from the earliest time have one thing in common; "Daily Practice"
Before going on tour, Beyonce will rehearse for 9-12 hours a day, every day, for 2 months straight. In addition to daily runs and workouts with her personal trainer.
Serena Williams practices tennis for 4 hours every day, strength trains for 2 hours, then does an hour of cardio. She kept this routine up even while she was 7 months pregnant.
Sean “Puffy” Combs is the embodiment of determination and hustle. After quitting Howard University following his sophomore year, he came back to his native NYC and interned at Uptown Records. After that brief music industry education, he launched his own Bad Boy Records in 1993 and the rest is history. He was recently listed among the Greatest Business Minds Alive by Forbes.
As a married man the greatest writer of all time, William Shakespeare was ineligible to attend university. But through daily practice of the writing craft, he became the most prolific writer of his time and arguably the greatest writer of all time.
Stephen King writes 2000 words a day, and "only under dire circumstances do I allow myself to shut down before I get my 2000 words." He finishes a novel every three months.
If there's one thing that all top performers have in common, it's daily practice.
They've put in the work, day in day out, for years on end.
But that's not the story we want to hear.
Instead, most of us prefer to believe the myth that they were born super-talented and could show up whenever they felt like it to produce amazing work.
It's a lie that gives us a convenient excuse:
"Oh, I could never do that because I'm not talented enough"
But it's not true.
Instead of looking at these people and thinking "how great could my life be if I only I was that talented", we should feel inspired because their stories prove that we too can achieve amazing things through daily practice.
Daily practice helps us master a skill.
It helps us make the routine of practicing that skill into a habit -- something we 'just do'. In other words, it helps it become part of who we are.
If it just-so-happens that you want to get in shape, so you can have a better body and live for longer, then the skill you need to work on is exercising. And make no mistake, exercising is a skill; something you can get better at with daily practice.
Of course, you can practice every day on your own
