Ferdinand confirms Attempt to Career in Boxing
One time Manchester United and England captain, Rio Ferdinand in a press conference confirms that he attempts to career in professional boxing.
He is to engage some professional boxers in a boxing challenge tagged "Defender to Contender"
According to The Telegraph, The 38-years-old who is hoping to get his British Board of Control license said on Tuesday morning
“Boxing is an amazing sport for the mind and the body. I have always had a passion for it and this challenge is the perfect opportunity to show people what’s possible. It’s a challenge I’m not taking lightly, clearly not everyone can become a professional boxer, but with the team of experts Betfair are putting together and the drive I have to succeed, anything is possible"
Ferdinand has been nurturing the dream for quite sometime. He was pictured hanging Anthony Joshua's heavyweight championship title belt on his body after the former's victory with Wladimir Klitschko .
Ferdinand took up boxing after he lost his wife, Rebecca, to breast cancer two years ago, the same year he retired from professional football. He said gym work helped him cope with bereavement and makes him free his mind.
